고추 건조장으로 변한 경찰서 주차장
이맘때면 차는 없고 붉은색 고추만 가득하다는 한 주차장.
그곳의 정체는 바로 강원도 평창경찰서다.
해마다 반복되는 농장물 도둑에 농민들의 도난 신고가 끊이지 않아 고민이었던 경찰서
해결방안을 모색하다 넓은 주차장을 주민들에게 제공하자는 의견이 나오면서
2004년부터 매년 가을이 되면 주차장을 ‘농산물 건조장’으로 개방하면서
농민들이 도둑맞을 걱정 없이 농산물 건조를 하게 장소를 제공하고 있다고 한다.
경찰서 앞마당 덕분에 농민들은 고민이 해결됐단다.
갑자기 비가 오면 직원들이 손수 농작물을 거둬주기도 한다고 한다.
